Some'thin for my Sisterrrrrs Fam

Mys sister just had a beautiful baby girl. This is there second child and they currently live miles and miles and miles, and miles, and miles, and miles away. So, for me #1 not living close, and #2 not having children of my own...found it hard to figure out how to be supportive.

I sent out a package containing a cute jumper I had made for the new comer and a small bag with things  like: play bandaids, baby wipes, and diapers for the older sister. A few weeks later I thought..."was that enough? Is that what is needed for new mom of 2??"

So I resorted to what I know best. Since I am an Elementary teacher....educational games came to mind to try and help keep my older niece busy, and let her parents have a little time.

Here was my plan:
1. Make a game for each week. One game at a time would be introduced so that these games would keep her interest for up to four weeks.

2. Make the games so they were age appropriate, and that she could do on her own for up to 20 min at a time. (Thus giving parents a chance to shower, breathe, stare at the wall...BLOG/SEND PICTURES OF NEW BABY TO SISTERS) Ya know.

Here are the games I sent after I had cut/colored/laminated them:

Owls Color Matching
This one is all over Pinterest right now. Since my niece is preschool age, this is perfect.
It is a game of matching different patterns and colors. Good for teaching how
look for detail and clues besides colors.

Numerical Matching
This too I found online after a little searching.
Its great to start introducing numbers and helping make the numbers more visual.
This one might be a hard one for her, but will be something she can grow into.

Bubble Gum ABC
This one I am really excited about, because I thought it up myself.
This game is so great for this age group. Matching Uppercase and Lowercase letters is actually
really really tricky. The colors help give a hint, and with practice, the child
will learn to recognize the letters.

Animal Shadow Match
I found this one randomly online. I fell in love with the cute animals.
This one is a fun matching game without color, but all based
off of shape.

If you want my bubble gum game for your own use in your home, e-mail me.
